Some about the Model Air Club of Thun - Switzerland:
Switzerland is a very small alpine country in the heart of Europe. Thun is a Town of about 40 000 Inhabitants and is situated on the low end of the Lake of Thun. We are directly at the rim of the alps and therfore Thun is also named the Door to the Alps. We - the Model Air Club of Thun are a club of about one hundred members and our Flying Field is on an Army Training Center giving us only restricted acess during weekdays.

IPC Pilots (from left to right): Peter Spring, Marco Gyger, Kurt Frank, René Walther, Beat Stucki, Gerhard Läderach, Patrik Blunier
Heinz Schenk, Michi Trachsel, Peter Röthlisberger, Erich Röthlisberger, - (Martin Bögli & René Müller "MIA")
IPC Spring 2008 Report:
The Model Air Club of Thun had to shift the IPC to the 13th of April due to heavy rain one week ago. It was worth to wait for better weather. We had sunshine and 10 C in the morning rising to 18 C at the end of the contest. The wind turned from normal mountain morningwind to normal slight west wind. The thermal conditions were perfect however not all were able to stay in the tight thermals well enough. And beside a strong uplift is tipically a strong downlift. Even our winner did not concentrate well enough and had one flight below the max. time. This happened to others as well. Due to cold and snowy March weather most of the pilots did not practice well enough and this is reflected in the big spread of the landing results. 12 happy pilots participated including 2 juniors and we had a good and interesting soaring day.
