Some about the Model Air Club of Thun - Switzerland:
Switzerland is a very small alpine country in the heart of Europe. Thun is a Town of about 40 000 Inhabitants and is situated on the low end of the Lake of Thun. We are directly at the rim of the alps and therfore Thun is also named the Door to the Alps. We - the Model Air Club of Thun are a club of about one hundred members and our Flying Field is on an Army Training Center giving us only restricted acess during weekdays.

We did the flying for the Autumn contest on the last sunday of August - the 26. 12 Pilots began flying at about 1100 and we already found lots of lift wich gave us real good Flight Times. Because a light southern wind we installed the winch upwards on the flying Field and had real good Flights the first two rounds we flew. Quickly it showed that most of us are still weak Landers and it seems that we are not to much trained on Spot Landings. We fly often in to the mountains during summer and therefore loose some precision on Landings. (Good excuse!)

At around midday the wind and therefore also the flying conditions changed - we had to turn over the winch setting and theThermal occurred now far less often and was more and more turbulent which made the six minutes more and more difficult to obtain. At around 1430 we finished the 5 five rounds of flying, we packed up the winch and got back to the Clubhouse and had a cool Beer together - nice day!

The models flown where of RES and F3J Type and either type have ist merits. Some real good glass slippers but also conventionally build models did good use.
