28. August 2011

Some about the Model Air Club of Thun - Switzerland:
Switzerland is a very small alpine country in the heart of Europe. Thun is a Town of about 40 000 Inhabitants and is situated on the low end of the Lake of Thun. We are directly at the rim of the alps and therfore Thun is also named the Door to the Alps. We - the Model Air Club of Thun are a club of about one hundred members and our Flying Field is on an Army Training Center giving us only restricted acess during weekdays.

IPC Autumn 2011 Report:

Hello to everybody

We flew the Autumn IPC competition Sunday August 28 from 0930 to 1330

We where blessed with superb late summer day weather this Sunday. The wind was light and off changing direction, the sky was pure blue and it was T-shirt temperature. Only mediocre thermals with weak lift and some downstreams for flying. I think the land had heated up to even temperature from midday, to the point where nothing was giving off distinct thermals. With a good launch and a little bit of luck it was quite possible to do the required 6 minutes if you flew very carefully. We finished the competition in the early afternoon and had therefore enough time to heat up the fire and doing a nice barbeque with enough drinking stuff of all sorts. All in all it was a very nice Sunday.

Happy flying and always some lift under the wings!
